Styling A Session
Gentle, earthy colour palettes tend to compliment my style of photography and the backdrop of nature best.
Bold, primary colours and large patterns can dominate a photograph. They will stick out among nature and draw the eye away from what we want the focus of the images to be.
Avoid clothing with text, graphics, bold patterns. If wearing a pattern, opt for something small, dainty or simple if possible.
Family Outfits
Unless we have discussed something specific, it's a good idea to keep clothing timeless & classic. Limit patterns to one person only, and keep the pattern small, delicate and simple.
Some people find it easiest to pick mums outfit and then base everyone else's around her, or to first pick a dominant colour and then choose accent colours.
You don't have to match, instead consider the overall colour palette.
I am always on hand if you need me. Feel free to send over images of outfits or run ideas by me.
Posing
My photography is a mix of posed and documentary style. The magic doesn't happen by accident, I will guide you through poses, demonstrate them for you (awkwardly) and also allow space for your real emotions and interactions.
I don't expect anyone to show up with poses ready to go, so please don't worry about it.
Client Closet
All clients have access to my client closet for free.
I do not post items to clients to try on. I can provide more details and images of pieces you are interested in. I bring your chosen items with me on the day and take them home when we are done shooting.
I always advise bringing back up outfits incase on the day you try an item on and do not feel comfortable.
Dirt happens,
you won't be charged for any stains.
Little Ones
I'm a mum, I know just getting dressed and out of the house can be stressful. I try to make sessions as low pressure and relaxed as possible. There is always time for breaks, feeds, nappy changes or tears and cuddles.
Being a SEN parent I am mindful of families with additional needs and will do my best to support you.
It doesn't matter at all if your child will not sit still and hold a pose. I may direct you all, but the exploring, laughing or playing you do naturally is where the magic happens. You just need to turn up and be you, I'll scurry around and do the rest.
Feeling nervous?
I have struggled with social anxiety in the past, so am very mindful of creating a relaxed atmosphere for everyone. Booking a photo session may feel daunting, but think of it as a nature walk and creative adventure with a new friend. It's super relaxed and we always have a giggle.
I always tell myself that nerves are really excitement. Nerves come before something wonderful.
All clients will receive a contract between them and myself for them to digitally sign. This covers the T's and C's in much more detail to make sure we are all on the same page and happy with everything.
I look forward to meeting you and going on a little adventure together!
